Toddler Turn A Phrase

Author's Note: Conversation taking place after a nasty accident in which Tristan got his little fingers pinched in the bathroom door. (Despite being warned a zillion and one times that playing in the door would result in said accident.)

Tristan: Momma, boo-boo. ::holds out hand::

Me: Yes, I see that. Here, Mommy will put ice on it.

Tristan: No ice.

Me: If you put the ice on it, it will feel better.

Tristan: No...No feel better, ice.

Me: Then, what do you want me to do for you?

Tristan: (Crying stops) M&Ms. M&Ms feel better.


Ahh...I've succeed not only in passing emotional eating to the next generation, but also in breaching the gender lines. And in doing such men around the world will be enlightened to the inner turmoil women combat daily.

My work here is done. :-P

Author's Note: Conversation which took place over a radio playing Toby Keith's I Love This Bar.

Avery: Mommy! Know what?!

Me: What?

Avery: Toby knows my teacher!

Me: He does?

Avery: Yup.

Me: And how do you know that, Bean?

Avery: Because he just said so in the song!

Me: He did?

Avery: Yeah he said..."I Love Miss Barb!"


Well darling little boy, who doesn't love Miss Barb? Now "S'cuse me while I kiss this guy." ;-D


For those of you poor un-lyrical folk the above is a referece to one of the (arguably) most misheard lyrics of all time...the line "S'cuse me while I kiss the sky" from Purple Haze by the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
